Scooter

Scooter, originally uploaded by Jim and Teresa Revis.

Jim and I bought this scooter last week! It is really fun to ride, but we're still learning. I made it down to Hollywood Blvd today (only about 4 blocks away). I'll post a pic of us on it soon!

priscilla with the carters

We are so proud of Priscilla!!! She is interning at the Carter Center this summer and has been offered a part time job with them for the Fall. She graduates after Fall Semester from GA Tech.

SICK

I got sick last friday and was out of commission for the weekend. Stomach Virus. YUCK!
Now I'm feeling a lot better, BUT, I haven't had any coffee since Friday!!!
I am trying to decide if I want to quit, but I have been a little bit moody and emotional. So, quiting seems like a bad idea, until you think about why NOT drinking something can make you that way. So, I am probably going to quit the daily coffee. Maybe I'll try tea.
That's my update.

Jim's update is much more exciting. He's still working 6 days a week and working hard, but he got a bump to a Second Second AD credit??? He said it is better than Key PA, so I believe.
He's been getting home really late in the evenings and leaving really early, so we haven't had much down time. But, last night he came in before dark!!! I was so excited. He called me from the car and said, come outside. I went.

On his way home from work, the first day that he was driving home before dark, the car was hit by a woman trying to get around him in traffic. She did quite a bit of damage to the driver side rear bumper. We were pretty upset about it, but, that's ok.

THEN, on Jim's way to work this morning, he hit a curb and blew out a tire and lugnut!!! My poor car will never be the same.

Pictures will be available soon :(

Hiking in LA

I joined a hiking group the first week we got here. It's been great to meet some fun people and get to see some of LA that a lot of people don't. Last week went to somewhere near Zuma beach, north of Malibu. It was a really nice hike and at the beginning of it we saw two little coyote's that looked just like this one. SOOOOO CUTE!!!

Working

I'm working! I guess that it is good, although I definitely was enjoying my time off. Sleeping late, leisurely jogs around hollywood, people watching in the middle of the afternoon, going out late for no real reason. Yeah, I miss my time off already. BUT, I am glad to be getting a paycheck.

The wierd thing about LA is that there are so many people that are into so many different things, so there are always tons of people just wondering around, or so it seems.

SO, I'm working at an Architect Firm in Century City. The position is kindof strange, I am part executive assistant and part receptionist and general admin. It's a small office with only about 22 people. The company does Health and Education building and planning mostly.

I've been taking the bus. I have a commute from Hollywood of approximately 6miles and it takes about an hour on the bus. It makes the days pretty exhausting, but I think that I'll get used to it. I am only on day 2, so I really don't know what's going to happen.

LA

Our first days in LA have been very action packed (not really)! We've hung out with some friends, gone to see Widespread at the Wiltern theatre, and today we are heading to the beach! That's enough for me. I'm going for my first run in LA today (since the Marathon).
The real reason for this post is that jim's short film now has a website with a trailer on it. It looks good so check it out at:

Pretty cool.

We made it!!!

We got into hollywood around 8pm last night. Today we are in the process of getting things unpacked and settling in. It finally seems real today after stocking up at the grocery store. The house is great, except there is no AC. It's got a lot of windows, so as long as it's safe to keep them open, the place stays pretty cool. As far as apartments in Hollywood go, its pretty spacious. I'm very glad to be out of the car!

Day 5: Painted Desert

The painted desert is really beautiful, but by this point we were ready
to hit the road and get home!

Petrified Forest

Our only Wildlife sightings of the whole trip
(other than a jackrabbit on the side of the hwy in Texas):
Lizard on petrified wood.
Bunny Rabbit munching on grass.

Day 5: Petrified Forest

The Petrified forest was a little bit of a backtrack, but it was really cool to see trees that are hundreds of millions of years old, and turned into rock. I've never seen anything like it. And it was fun that you could touch and feel them.

KOA Camping at its best!

After visiting the Grand Canyon we drove to the KOA in Holbrook, AZ (about 20 miles from the Petrified forest). This was our first KOA experience and it was pretty good. We went for a swim in the pool and relaxed a little (there hasn't been a lot of that on this trip). We still had a netflix movie with us, so we watched Deliverance. I had never seen it before and had wanted to see it before we left GA, oh well. Anyway, thanks to the scary movie and the 3 beers I drank I didn't sleep more than 3 hours all night. And of course Jim slept like a rock. The KOA was fun, though.

Day 4:Grand Canyon

Day 4:Grand Canyon, originally uploaded by Jim and Teresa Revis.

Definitely worth the wait! Absolutely amazing. We were completely in awe.

We didn't have too long at the canyon by the time we got there and on the shuttles, but we are already planning on taking another trip and staying in the park.

Day 4: Trying to get into the Grand Canyon

We stayed in Flagstaff last night. The drive to the canyon park entrance is about an hour and a half, but it took another half hour to get into the gates. We're not really sure why. Once it was our turn it took less than a minute to get into the park and then there was very little traffic. It reminded us a little of Disney world with the lines to get onto the free shuttles to go around the park.

Day 3-Four Corners

Day 3-Four Corners, originally uploaded by Jim and Teresa Revis.

After leaving Albuquerque we went up through the Navajo nation and made our way to Four Corners. Jim decided to take a nap in AZ, NM, CO, and UT at once. It was a really long drive. Really long. We thought that we would never get out of that desert!

Albuquerque

We got in to Albuquerque around 3:30 am EST last night (we haven't changed our watches yet). Checked into the hotel and crashed. It's been two really long days. But, now we have gone 2/3rds of the way to LA and we are taking 3 more days for the rest. I am excited about seeing New Mexico today, since it was dark all the time we were driving last night.

There was a bad storm last night with lightening that lit up the entire sky. I've never seen lightening like that before. It slowed us down a lot. Luckily Jim was driving and I slept through most of it.

Our cell phones couldn't pick up signal during most of our trip yesterday. We'll try again today.

Still on the Road to Albuquerque

The last daylight on the road to albuquergue left us with what should have been 3 hours to go, unfortunately we hit our first rain storm in New Mexico as well as lots of construction areas where no one was working.

Back into Texas

Back into Texas, originally uploaded by Jim and Teresa Revis.

Back into texas for a few more hours of driving.

Oklahoma

We took a short jaunt into Oklahoma. It looked just like Texas at this spot on the border!

Proof that I did help with the driving.

I drove all the way from Dallas to Amarillo, TX on the second day. It was about 6 hours and most of it was 2 line highway. The speed limit was 70, but then it would all of a sudden drop to 55, then 50, 40, 35, 30 and we would be driving through these tiny towns. It made the trip kindof long and drawn out, but we felt like we got to see more of Texas. I was overjoyed to hand over the wheel in Amarillo and promptly fell asleep.

The Book Depository

We stayed with Jim Sr. for the night and ate some delicious homemade southern food (cube steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, biscuits, etc.

This was another first for me. It was really nice new bridge (the old one is to the right) and the river is HUGE.
